NEW DELHI: Counting is underway for the November 13 bypolls across seven Assembly seats in Rajasthan: Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Nagaur, Chorasi, and Dungarpur. These bypolls, triggered by MLAs vacating seats after Lok Sabha victories, are a litmus test for BJP and Congress ahead of the state elections.
The early reports reveal that the BJP is leading in Deoli-Uniara and Khinwsar, the INC in Ramgarh and Dausa, the BAP in Saluamber and Chorasi, while Rajendra Singh Gudha, an independent candidate, is leading in Jhunjhunu.
Assembly Election Results
In Dausa, BJP’s Jagmohan Meena faces a tough fight against Congress-backed Rajendra Meena, while in Khinvsar, Kanika Beniwal of RLP is battling to retain her party’s relevance. The Deoli-Uniara seat has also seen heightened attention after independent candidate Naresh Meena’s clash with an SDM led to violence during polling.
BJP state chief Madan Rathore expressed confidence in sweeping the bypolls, accusing Congress of infighting and lack of direction. Meanwhile, Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra claimed his party would outperform BJP, emphasizing voter dissatisfaction with the BJP government’s performance over the last 11 months.
As results unfold, the outcomes of these contests will not only determine the fate of seven key constituencies but also reshape the political equations in Rajasthan, setting the tone for the upcoming state elections. All eyes are on this crucial battle for dominance in the state’s political arena.
