Vijaypur bypolls election 2024: BJP’s Ramniwas Rawat against Congress’ Mukesh Malhotra

The counting of votes for Vijaypur assembly bypolls in the Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh began at 8 am on Saturday. The counting of votes for the Vijaypur assembly is held at the Government Polytechnic College, Sheopur, as per officials.

The vote counting for the Vijaypur seat will be carried out in 21 rounds for 327 polling stations in the assembly area, with 16 tables set up for the process.

Assembly Election Results

In the by-elections, BJP’s Ramniwas Rawat is in the contest against Congress’s tribal leader Mukesh Malhotra.
A high voting turnout of 77.85 per cent was recorded in Vijaypur in the polling held on November 13.
The bypoll for Vijaypur was mandated after the then-sitting Congress MLA, Ramniwas Rawat, resigned and joined the ruling BJP. He was subsequently appointed as a minister in the Mohan Yadav cabinet.
In the last assembly elections in 2023, Ramiwas Rawat of Congress secured his win with 69,646 votes against BJP’s Babulal Mevra.
Previously, in the assembly elections of 2018, BJP’s Seetaram emerged as the winner securing 34.86 per cent votes against Ramniwas Rawat of the Indian National Congress who fell short of 2,040 votes.
